Many companies have discovered the value of a well-executed social media plan, making best use of free and paid platforms with huge budgets earmarked for online activities.
Other, smaller companies do not always have this luxury, and for the most part have left the whole ‘social media thing' alone, seeing it as more of a potential time waster than a productive business tool.
Man, are they wrong!
Using social media with a limited (or non-existent) budget can still be terrifically effective, even to the point where your interaction online is limited to simply watching what your target audience has to say and learning from it.
It's free to create a Facebook/Twitter/LinkedIn account, so ignorance can no longer be your excuse. Your customers are online and talking (possibly even about you), and if you're not listening you're guaranteed to miss out on all the great suggestions that are put out there and all the opportunities to turn complaints into happy customers.
Damage control
When people are upset they go to where they feel their say matters, where they have an audience, and that's usually Facebook or Twitter. Likewise when they are substantially impressed with something they use the same platform to try to influence their connections.
Using social media allows you at the very least to minimise the impact of negative reviews and handle complaints about your business, staff or service, which when not attended to at all leaves your company in a very bad light.
However, these things still have to be done the right way. Many a social media plan has backfired through mismanagement and the results can be devastating for the company.
Social Media Training teaches the learner when and how to approach their target audience online, and how to make use of each platform in ways best suited to their own business environments.
