But why is it that we can never stick to our new year's resolutions? Should they really be this hard to keep?
The truth is the reason we fail so miserably at keeping our new year's resolutions is the same reason so many of us make goals that seem to fall by the wayside - we simply don't plan them properly.
It's not enough to just think about your goals (even if you think about them a lot), they need to be carefully planned and executed, and if necessary adapted. This means writing them down in specifics, creating deadlines and measuring your progress.
It sounds a lot less fun when you put it that way, but actually making some headway with your goals is a whole lot more rewarding than the feeling you get knowing this year will be exactly like the last, regardless of the resolutions you come up with.
Make 2014 your year of action. Do more doing than thinking. Plan, plan, plan, and then draw up a backup plan, just in case!
You can thank me in 2015!
