Why Try to Understand Each Other?
"Culture makes people understand each other better. And if they understand each other better in their soul, it is easier to overcome the economic and political barriers.

But first they have to understand that their neighbour is, in the end, just like them, with the same problems, the same questions." - Paulo Coelho

One of the common themes in Staff Training's courses is the module titled Understanding People, which explores those things which make us different and those which make us the same.

Lingual differences, cultural differences, racial differences, physical differences - together with our delegates we explore each of these concepts and find that there really is beauty in diversity - that it should be embraced and cherished instead of mocked or ignored.

Because when we understand each other, and I mean REALLY understand each other, we get:

Higher levels of trust
Easier communication
Stronger relationships
Increased team morale and cohesiveness
Fewer unnecessary conflicts

In a country like ours, with 11 official languages, many different races, ideas and beliefs, we should all be making a concerted effort to UNDERSTAND each other.

This is how South Africa will move forward.
