Ke Nako - to Get Back to Work

https://www.stafftraining.co.za/blog/ke-nako-–-to-get-back-to-work

With the Cricket World Cup done and dusted (and KwaZulu-Natal still reeling) you would expect corporate South Africa to go back to business as usual.

This will not be the case.

It seems as though since the 2010 Fifa World Cup last year we've been slow to really get back into the swing of things, and then the Cricket World Cup happened last month and we forgot all about work again (at least while South Africa was still in contention) and now everyone's already talking about the Rugby World Cup happening later this year.

And as if these distractions weren't enough we've got a huge Easter break coming up at the end of April in which over a period of 11 days just three are normal working days.

Add to that an additional public holiday (bringing the total number of public holidays in SA in 2011 to 13) on May 18 for the municipal elections, and it's easy to see why this year has been so stop-start and disjointed.

Don't get me wrong; I love sport as much as the next guy - if not more - but a worrying trend seems emergent and I feel it needs to be addressed.

We can't afford to be unproductive, even if that's what the rest of the world is doing.

And while there's not much we can do about the plethora of public holidays coming up, we can ensure that we do our very best on the days while we are at work. It's becoming a necessity.

Those of us who don't start giving 110% are likely to be left behind and buried under mountains of work, which is the quickest way to lose it altogether.
