Is Your Harmonic Tri-Type Influencing Your Leadership Ability?

The nine types as illustrated on the Enneagram
The nine types as illustrated on the Enneagram
The Enneagram is a tool designed to help you identify and understand the ways in which you operate in this world. Among what it shows us are the tri-types.

Positive / Escapist, Reactive or Competency-based - you could have any of these three tri-types stacked in any order.

The Harmonic tri-types as illustrated through the Enneagram helps identify our behaviour when we don't get what we want or need. I.e. the way we go about managing the problem.

For example:

As a manager you are striving toward a certain target. Obtaining the target seems to be quite challenging and the more challenging it becomes, the more you drive yourself and others harder and harder to achieve it. This will be a competency-based approach. Securely based in logic, this approach avoids emotion and these individuals simply work harder to achieve their outcome. Sounds great doesn't it? Indeed, except of course that one or two crucial aspects are missing...

A second manager may well smile and brave it, suggesting that the team tries again either at another time, or with another target, maybe even denying the importance of reaching the existing target. All the time maintaining a positive outlook, this manager may not necessarily work harder right there and then, but will continue to work. Possibly focussing on morale. Extremely necessary focus when driving a team harder isn't it?

A third manager may well become quite reactive and have a negative emotional reaction to the situation, upsetting the entire apple cart if necessary. Whilst doing this they infuse new energy into the group, enabling a fresh look at the problem. Obviously then, when combined with the positive and the competency-based harmonics, the reactive harmonic responses can work.

Yet we often find that we don't get this well-rounded approach, we tend to stagnate in our preferred behaviour and entrenched Harmonic responses to problems, conflict and challenges.

Seems quite simple doesn't it?

So if you'd like to obtain a full Professional Enneagram Report combined with leadership training and four additional leadership coaching hours helping you to understand your own Harmonic responses, your Tri-types, Enneagram type, Hornevian Tri-types and natural communication and management styles including reaction to conflict, and strengths and weaknesses, contact us, we'll make it happen.
