Some personality types will do everything possible to avoid conflict, while others tend to be constantly in conflict with others (and actually seem to like it).
The question is: How can we make the process more effective for all parties involved?
1. Define what the conflict is really about.
2. Is this conflict based on facts or perceptions?
3. Identify shared concerns regarding the conflict.
4. Learn to listen actively by asking questions and reflecting on statements
5. Make it 'you and I against the issues' not 'you and I against each other'
6. Develop a sense of understanding and forgiveness.
7. Purify your heart
This method of 'mindful thinking' will give you a framework to solve conflict effectively and move on with your life. Give it a try!
