6 Things We Know About Companies That Train

6 things we know about companies that train
6 things we know about companies that train
Motorolla measured and showed a 30% increase in profitability over a three-year period after embarking on an intensive training programme.

A study of 56 United States listed companies showed an average of 24% increase in traded stock price within the first year of planned training programmes.

The results for measuring ROI for training speak for themselves. We would also like to remind you that sufficient studies have proven that individuals with improved emotional intelligence are up to four times more successful than their equally educated counter parts. The measuring tools of such success incorporating areas from both business and personal life.

That is why we strongly suggest that any training programme you embark on should include a measure of soft skills/emotional intelligence training, which could even include one-on-one and team coaching sessions.

We have personally been involved with a number of growing and expanding companies, all of whom have been training with regular and set programmes for the last decade at least. We have not done a full study on the companies and their reasons for growth, but we have observed quite a few tendencies:

1) The companies have all without exception formalised their training programmes and have communicated their intention to their teams (great communication, less conflict)

2) The founders are in most cases still there, but the staff who started with the founder and who were originally the people we worked with, are definitely still there (great skills retention)

3) In many instances family and friends of the original group work for the company (great attraction of skill)

4) The people we took through the Developing Your Management Potential workshops are today in senior positions, having developed to senior management positions as the company has grown (great succession planning)

5) One company started off with 15 people and today, eight years later, employ 65, yet the face of the company remains down to earth with very happy people (great job satisfaction, keeping it real)

6) A second client that started off training a select few staff ( a group of four) today send a group of 55 past us every year, largely due to a new division that opened (great creativity)

So only one question remains. Have you started your training for 2014 yet?
