Time Management Tips
Time Management Tips
Time – something we all wish we had a bit more of!

We can't give you more hours in the day, but with a bit of help you can learn to manage your time better, which is kind of the same thing….

1. Have a to do list

Draw up a daily time table for the tasks that need doing that day. Prioritise what must be done first, and then move on to other things. Put a note on your desk as a reminder for those tasks that tend to slip your mind.

2. Plan better

Break up your activities in order to be more productive. Start with the more difficult activities and then tackle the smaller ones. Don't dwell on one activity for more than it's worth - sometimes coming back with a fresh mind is all you need.

3. Avoid/ignore distractions

Put on hold distractions that can be dealt with after you have finished your work, i.e. answering calls from a friend, attending to the many, many emails that come through etc. Concentrate on what needs to be done urgently and leave the rest for when you have the time.

4. Learn to say "no"

If your colleague asks for assistance while you are busy with an important task, tell them you are going to finish what you are doing first and will assist once you're finished. Don't just jump up and leave your task unfinished.

5. Learn to delegate

Don't be shy to ask for assistance if needed. If possible, delegate work to other team members.

6. Take a break!

Take a five minute break between tasks in order to kick start and refresh your brain.

Get enough sleep to relax your body for the next day.
