While no one business article will ever be able to ensure the guaranteed success of your start-up company, it certainly doesn't hurt to be as prepared as possible.
With that in mind…
One of the first things any entrepreneur must do is learn how to trust her gut and say no.
When it doesn't feel right, it probably isn't, so don't be scared to say no and walk away.
Secondly, never underestimate human capital.
The connections you make, staff you employ and advisors you choose will play a huge role in how successful you will be. Pick each of these wisely and work hard at retaining them.
And then: never settle.
Each goal you reach should be replaced by a new one. You should always be trying to be better than before, not content with how you think things are. It may be relaxing to feel like all of your targets are being met, but if you aren't being pushed then maybe your targets aren't high enough.
