Mostly, we fail because we dreamt big and planned small!
Rather set yourself small, easily achievable goals that will make a difference on a micro level, because TINY TWEAKS MAKE BIG DIFFERENCES!
Here is a list of my "tiny tweaks" goals:
1. I"m going to let the tea bag soak in the hot water in the cup for a minute longer. I make dreadful tea because I need to have it ready to go in the shortest possible time. This means I literally pour the boiling water over the bag, mangle it with my spoon to get all the flavour out then discard it. I realise that simply allowing it to soak for a minute or two means I'll have a much more flavoursome cup of tea and the world won't fall off its axis cos I hung around for those extra couple of minutes.
2. I'm going to become more process driven than simply goal driven. In other words, I'll enjoy the steps when I'm in the moment instead of heading at speed to the finishing line.
3. I'll actually look at those close to me when I’m speaking to them rather than multi-tasking.
4. I'll take note of the fact that giving small, seemingly insignificant tasks my full attention means I do them better, or develop a more efficient way of completing them. I'm going to switch from auto-pilot and become mindful.
5. I'll spend more time actually chatting to those close to me, instead of simply issuing instructions and moving onto the next item on my list.
6. I'll pet my animals more. It's got to be one of the most effective stress releases there are.
7. I'll be present in each day of the new year, rather than mapping out everything I have to achieve and stressing to get it all done asap.
8. I'll tidy my junk drawer and put things in logical places so I don't have to rummage when I want something.
9. I'll buy an extra set of clothes pegs and I'll keep these together in an easily accessible bag.
10. I'll see the potential to have fun each and every day instead of only concentrating on what needs to be done.
So there you have it - small, totally achievable tweaks, that'll definitely improve my quality of life. Have fun with your lists!
